Denn wer konnte schon wissen was dort lauerte? „Hallo? Ist… Ist da jemand? Hallo!“ Nichts. Wo waren eigentlich all die anderen? Was war passiert…

Deep blackness surrounded him, accompanied by an infinite silence. There was nothing around him, no clue as to whether he was standing or lying down, whether he was in a tiny room or an endless expanse. He considered taking a step into the darkness, but that didn't seem like a good idea. After all, who knew what was lurking there? "Hello? Is... Is someone there? Hello!" Nothing. Only silence surrounded him. He wasn't even sure if he was really shouting into the blackness or if his voice was nothing more than a thought. It was probably pointless wasting his strength on this. But what else could he do? He couldn't see the hand in front of his eyes, but he could definitely feel his body. So he was definitely here, even if he didn't know where this "here" even was. Where was he here anyway and where were all the others? How had he got here and, most importantly, what had happened? What had happened... He tried to recall the last memories he could find. There was the curse... No, the curse
It was the same as all the days before. Grey clouds were blowing across the sky and the rain was so heavy that the trees at the edge of the forest could only be glimpsed from the castle. But even if the rain and the cold wind couldn't penetrate the castle, it seemed as if the thick walls were no obstacle to the grey that prevailed outside. No matter how hard everyone tried to go about their daily lives as usual, there was no doubt that the mood had changed. Since that one day, that one afternoon, the castle was no longer the same. Just like its inhabitants. And one of these residents had been particularly affected by the change, so much so that not only his mood, but his whole being seemed to have changed. His cheerful laughter had faded, his encouraging smile had disappeared and all the energy he usually radiated had been drained. Many said of him that he could light up any room, any situation with his presence alone, as if he himself were a candle whose warm light dispelled the
